India’s Most Underrated Beaches

Its irony that India has many exceptional beaches in India, yet most Indians love to travel outside India. If you ask someone in India about their dream beach destinations they will proudly say about Maldives, Seychelles, Miami, or Mauritius and Bali. If you will ask them in India, 60 % of them will say it is Goa.

Hindi Movie Dil Chahta Hai made Goa the most sough after beach destination in India. But definitely we have some amazing beaches and island cities in India which are not popular but are extremely phenomenal. Here I give you a list of such 5 most underrated beaches in India.

1. Devbagh beach in Malvan, Maharashta

This beach is not very far from Goa. This scenic beautiful beach has white sand and clear blue water. Located in Malvan of Maharashtra this beach has some amazing beach side resorts where you can enjoy staying very close to beach. Tarkarli beach which is adjacent to the Devbagh beach is one of the popular beaches of Malvan which also offers many water sports. 

Tondali beach and Kolamb beach are two other treasure beaches in Malvan which should not be missed.

2. Om Beach in Gokarna, Karnataka

This beach is shaped in OM symbol shape which is sacred to Sanatan Dharma. This beach has shacks, café and huts at the beach side where you can enjoy the beauty of this mesmerizing beach in Gokarna, Karnataka. Gokarna has some other beautiful beaches too such as Half Moon Beach, Paradise Beach, Nirvana Beach, Small Hell beach.

3. Bangaram Beach, Lakshadweep

This beach is located in same named beach island. It is not an inhabited island. This beach can be reached by boat and helicopter. Crystal clear blue lagoons and the multi-color coral reefs can be seen here in abundance. The clear water here gives best experience of scuba diving, snorkeling, and deep fishing here. There are many other amazing beaches are on Lakshadweep island such as Agatti, Kavaratti, Kadmat and many more.

4. Chandipur Beach, Odisha

This is a unique beach and one of its kind for an unusual phenomenon of this beach. Because of the unique phenomenon in which sea gets disappeared up to 5 kms, this beach is also called as the Hide & Seek beach. This phenomenon of disappearance of sea up to 5 kms happens twice in a day. This beach disappears its shoreline and amaze it tourists. This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and underrated beach in India. Golden beach and Gopal beach are some other beautiful beaches in Odisha.

5. Butterfly Beach, Goa

Can you imagine even Goa has a beach which has not been appreciated enough for its beauty. We often speak about Baga, Anjuna and Calangute beaches of Goa. But we forget Goa is a home to few other wonderful beaches too. This beach is also known as the Honeymoon beach and is surrounded by the lush green trees. As it is not a very easily accessible beach not many tourists are able to reach here. You can reach here via a ferry from the nearby South Goa beaches such as Palolem beach or Agonda beach.

Here I have tried to list down the most amazing beaches yet underrated beaches of India explored by me. But I know there must be many more beaches in India which are exceptionally wonderful and beautiful not has not been given required appreciation by our own tourists.
